Appearance

Deer are covered in brown fur, with patches of white on their belly and face and a black nose. The young fawns are covered in white speckles that fade as the animal ages. Bucks have antlers that slowly grow as the fawn ages into adulthood.

Usage

Currently Deer only drop Raw Hide and Bones upon death, but are planned to drop venison or other items in the future.

Behavior

Deer will flee from Players, Bears and Wolves. After a certain period of time, the deer will calm down and return to grazing, but can easily be spooked again.

Because Deer were written from a mesh of copypastas from Vanilla mobs, as they are being developed some hilarious code mistakes are being fixed.

The change-log for 77.20 reads: "Fixed deer so they are no longer shearable animals that mate with chickens to produce cows." This tweak of code sparked the creative mind of Kreicus to create a texture for what is now referred to as the Deecocheep (Deer, Cow, Chicken, Sheep).

Breeding

Deer currently have the code to produce offspring, but do not have an item set to trigger mating.
