Straw Straw is used to concentrate heat around clay items being fired in a Pit Kiln and to create Thatch blocks, which are one of the earliest building blocks available in the game. Straw can be harvested from tall grass by cutting it with a Knife or a Scythe. Straw is also produced when refining harvested grains.
