World Generation
Seagrass is a naturally occurring block that is generated under water. Seagrass can only spawn on gravel, soil, and sand. Seagrass will spawn equally on any block that is less than or equal to 6 blocks below the surface of the water. Once this depth is passed, the occurrence of seagrass decreases. In addition to depth being a limiting factor, areas underwater that are covered in gravel will also generate less seagrass. In addition to seagrass (which occurs in salt water), two other varieties of water plants exist:
